VoteVets Endorses Jeff Jackson for Congress
Charlotte – VoteVets, the largest progressive group of veterans in the country, has endorsed state Senator Jeff Jackson in his campaign for Congress in North Carolina’s newly-drawn, competitive 14th district.
VoteVets, representing over 1.5 million veterans and military families, supports veterans running for office around the country. Sen. Jackson enlisted in the Army Reserve following the attacks on September 11th, 2001, and served in Afghanistan from 2005 to 2006. He continues to serve today, as a Major in the North Carolina Army National Guard.
“I am grateful to have the endorsement of VoteVets. This will be my 20th year in the military. I’ve had the opportunity to see some great leaders and to try and learn by their example,” said Sen. Jackson. “The most important lessons are the simple ones: Be honest, be decent, listen, care, and work hard. I will continue to follow these principles in Congress to represent North Carolina’s 14th district.”
In endorsing a slate of veteran candidates today, Iraq War Veteran and Chairman of VoteVets Jon Soltz said: “These candidates have a wealth of knowledge and experience to keep our country and communities safe, but also have demonstrated a commitment to others above self, which is what we need more of in our public officials.
